Background: The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (llTA) invites applications for for a Laboratory Technician . This position is required to support the banana project that will be based at the llTA Office at the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NMAIST) in Kijenge, Arusha.

llTA is a not-for-profit institution that generates agricultural innovations to meet Africa's most pressing challenges of hunger, malnutrition, poverty, and natural resource degradation. Working with various partners across sub-Saharan Africa, we improve livelihoods, enhance food and nutrition security, increase employment, and preserve natural resource integrity. llTA is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future

Qualifications:
• The candidate should have a BSc in Molecular Biology I Biotechnology I Agriculture or related field.
• Preferably work experience in agricultural sciences or other research environment
• Familiarity with general laboratory working procedures
• Flexibility, reliability, honesty and independence
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
• The ability to work independently and as a team member;

General information:
The initial contract for the position is two years with possibility of renewal. This is a nationally recruited position and llTA offers a competitive remuneration package.
