Analyst; Dispute

Job Purpose

Ensure all disputes related to Card Business are reviewed; identify all risks, prepare and implement mitigation plan in line with the card scheme standards.



Main Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance to reporting fraud cases to International Card Associations as guided in the operating regulation and Card Business disputes are timely and properly managed to avoid financial losses and reputational risk.

Update information regarding card fraud trends in the market and devise a means to prevent.

Conduct quarterly review of Visa operating regulations and MasterCard by-laws and rules and dispute procedures to ensure the bank is in compliance and complete the required compliance attestations.

Liaise with card schemes (MasterCard and Visa) to obtain guidance on how to perform accurate, timely fraud activity reporting and proper documentation required for financial and non-financial disputes.



Ensure that appropriate system has been implemented for fraud monitoring and reports are available to show monitoring trend.

Ensure that fraud control and prevention measures are implemented in the card management system and the reports for the same activities are easily accessible to Card Business analyst.

Follow up and understand fraud patterns; develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

Watch for trends in single or broad merchant chargebacks and work to improve detection and prevention systems in case of fraud.

Ensure fraud reporting to Visa (FRS) and MasterCard (SAFE) is done monthly and processed in the system.

Create card fraud awareness to all stakeholders through training sessions and communicate to branches and Call Centre on existence of card fraud activity and the best way to protect customers from fraudulent activities.

Ensure daily retrieval for chargebacks and copy request from Visa and MasterCard system; follow-up with branches to provide requested sales draft copies and ATM journal rolls.

Ensure outgoing chargebacks and re-presentments for incoming chargebacks are processed on time and with correct response code.

Report on all cases which are due for arbitration for both incoming and outgoing disputes and advise management on the best practice to avoid financial and reputational risk.

Ensure all processed outgoing and incoming disputes are reported timely for analysis and management information.

Advise card account for write-off of failed disputes for onward recovery or payment to cardholder or merchant.

Investigate and adjust transactions to avoid excessive chargebacks

Qualifications and Experience

University Degree/Advanced Diploma in Business Administration, Banking, Information Technology or Finance.

5 years’ work experience with at least 2 years in card business (disputes management) under international card schemes.

Corporate Security Manager

Job Purpose

Responsible for setting strategic direction for NMB   Corporate   Security function and create enabling environment from people, risk, cost and service perspective.



Main Responsibilities:

Oversee corporate security framework to ensure total conformance with Bank of Tanzania (BOT) physical security requirements as well as NMB’s Physical security policy.

Review, update, organize and maintain all policies, procedures and other documentation associated with the physical security program.

Ensure all new branches and service outlets have proper working security equipment as per bank standards prior to rollout and opening.

Conduct snap checks and site visits to ensure proper working status of all physical security equipments.

Conduct continuous surveys of all head office departments and branches to determine areas with high physical risk that need additional security devices and make appropriate recommendation to management.

Ensure initial and periodic testing of the security devices is being done in all the security devices.

Develop/review physical security systems Installation guidelines and monitor its implementation across the bank.

Ensure periodic maintenance schedules for all the security devices as per existing contract NMB has entered with the service providers of physical security devices.

Conduct security risk assessments of  existing branches/offices   and potential business centers/sites and advise appropriate measures to mitigate identified risks.

Coordinate police and private security guards; ensuring all NMB branches are guarded.

Create awareness and ensure that all staff are familiar with all security policies and procedures including emergency procedures, usage of installed equipment, guarding expectations, etc.

Provide the bank with necessary security intelligence networking on all matters, which may affect the bank’s business, e.g. changes in patterns of crime in the society.

In liaison with other bank’s security managers, work closely with respective country law enforcement officers e.g. Police Service Commanders, Directors of security companies etc. on Bank security matters.

Attend meetings, professional seminars or conferences to keep abreast of changes of new technologies impacting security operations.

Control the budget for security operations and monitor the associated expenses.

Ensure all security   issues related to CCTV camera, acess control, intrusion systems , strong room , guarding services etc lodged   by Head office departments or branches are tracked and closed within agreed SLA.

Act as a catalyst for improvement of security   procedures and best practice of security solutions throughout the bank.

Collect and analyze security data to determine areas of improvement such as implementation of new technology etc

Put procedures in place for evaluating and monitoring security service providers performance.

Identify, investigate and resolve security breaches and advise management on how to improve bank’s security.

Conduct snap checks to ensure keys for strong rooms are maintained as per NMB Physical security policy.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of Bachelor degree in any relevant discipline.

At least 5 years’ experience within the security industry focusing on the banking sector; 2 years being in a managerial/leadership role.
