Principal Accountability:
To execute the RBB Market Sales Business Strategy and to manage the RBB Market Sales Team according to the
Head of Markets and the Barclays Africa Market Sales Strategy within Policies & Procedures in line with Group Values.
Main Responsibilities:
Managing the RBB market sales team to achieve sales objectives
In relation to the Market Sales team, ensuring the following:
o An engaged, stimulated and committed sales team
o The hiring and retaining of the Best People
o Appropriate sales supervision and escalation procedures
o Adequate succession Planning
o The distribution and acceptance of all policies related to the market environment
Developing and implementing a country specific RBB Market Sales Strategy, specifically and separately targeting Business Banking and Retail clients, in line with the Barclays Africa Market Sales Strategy and country sales requirements
Taking an active role in the regional sales structure through the matrix reporting line to the dedicated regional sales head
Working closely with the head of markets to develop the a markets customer value proposition for business banking and retail clients
Working closely with the dedicated regional RBB sales head to implement the Risk Management Products (RMP’s) roll out in country
Delivering in country revenue as per agreed budgets and ensuring these budget numbers are correct at all times
Acting as the primary point of contact for both internal (Retail & Business Banking) and external Market Sales
clients, ensuring regular face-to-face engagement with the RBB team to promote teamwork
Build and Manage the top 20 client portfolio and spending at least 30% of one’s time meeting with existing and new clients
Managing a new client acquisition strategy to ensure a continued increase in new clients and DDM clients
Monitoring service levels and implementing strategic measures to improve customer satisfaction and overall profitability
Achieving a leading position in the chosen products providing detailed Management Information on the composition, performance and profitability of the client portfolios
Business lead for coordination and prioritization products/ market development, ensuring that prioritization aligns to business opportunity and strategic focus areas
Ensuring a strong compliance culture within the team
Ensuring adherence to all the policies and procedures of the bank, and ensure team adherence to the same
Actively managing one’s own and the team’s technical and soft skills development
Researching, identifying and proposing training solutions to senior management for one’s own and for the team’s development
Becoming a role model for the in country team in participating in the local community.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor degree
ACI Dealing Certificate
5 Years’ experience should be minimum for Head of Sales RBB
Management experience
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of Market products
Knowledge of Sales Techniques
Understanding of interest rate and foreign exchange markets
Understanding of interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk and credit risk
Understanding of the policies, procedures and ethical requirements of a Market environment

Understanding of the mathematic of pricing for FX and Money Markets
Understanding of political and economic activity and the impacts on exchange rates and interest rates
