Job Details
Finance: budgeting and forecasting, creating interim and annual financial statements, facilitating internal mergers and acquisitions, as well as dealing with analysts and investors.

Job Purpose
To drive the overall integrity and accuracy of the General Ledger as a basis for the preparation of financial and management reports.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Ensure appropriate financial controls are implemented across the bank to support integrity of the General ledgerAssist in the Preparation of Internal financial control reportsKey custodian of the General Ledger, Chart of Accounts, and the repository for all Financial and Management information for the Bank.Monitoring all internal balance sheet account movements and ensuring that they reflect the correct balances and all relevant account reconciliations are performed and corrective actions taken timeously.Reviewing of monthly general ledger reconciliations to ensure that outstanding items are timeously cleared, resultant entries processed and the amounts reflected in the general ledger appropriately supported.Review of suspense accounts to ensure that these are cleared daily.Support the full substantiation of the total balance sheet before GL closure every month.Support the Internal Financial Control (IFC) and Balance sheet substantiation (BSS) reporting.Secretary to the BSS, Risk and IFC forumsSupport monthly Value at Risk (VaR) assessments on all balance sheet accounts in the bank and recommend appropriate provisioning requirements.Review reversal of P&L items on daily basis.Responsible for daily 3way recon; SAP, GBM and Finacle.Ensure maintenance of and adherence to Group and SBT accounting policies and procedures.Provision of Technical Advice and Accounting support to other Functional UnitsOther duties assigned by the Financial controller or CFOConsolidate assurance necessary information i.e Attestations, VARs etc and capture the same in the Assurenet systemMonitoring Proxy balances and escalate the same to respective business unitInternal Account MaintenanceCustodian of BSS and IFC policies

Preferred Qualification and Experience
Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting/Finance or related fieldCPA/ACCA-Added advantage
Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise
Minimum of one year post qualification experience.Basic understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.Computer literacy and knowledge of personal computers and software packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access. Working knowledge of Financle is added advantage.Good communication and presentation skills
