NECTA: OVERALL PERFORMANCE & TANZANIA ONE 2017 RESULTS

A total of 662,035 out of 909,950pupils who sat Standard Seven Examinations this year have passed, the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (Necta) says.

Announcing the results in Dar es Salaam on Friday, October 20, Necta executive secretary Dr Charles Msonde said the number of candidates who have passed is equivalent to 72.76 per cent.

He said 341,020 of those who passed were girls, which is about 70.03 per cent while the males were 321, 015 were boys (74.80 per cent).

In comparison with last year’s performance, Dr Msonde said the overall performance has improved by 2.40 percent this year compared to last year, which was 70.36 per cent.

In this year’s results, performance in Kiswahili, English and Mathematics has improved from last year 4.25 to 10.05 percent this year.

“Performance in Science and “Maarifa ya Jamii”   has fallen to 3.56 from 13.97 percent of 2016,’’ he said.

The Necta boss named Hadija Aziz of Sir John Primary School in Tanga as the best candidate.
“She is followed by Naseem Kareem Said from Sir John. The results show that performance was up in Kiswahili, Mathematics, Science and has increased to between 4.25 per cent to 10.05 per cent compared to last year.

Best performing schools are from Dar es Salaam, Geita, Kagera, Iringa, Kilimanjaro, Njombe, Arusha, Mwanza, Katavi, Tabora.

Schools with poorest performance are from Singida, Tanga, Tabora, Songwe, Lindi, and Manyara.
