The Eastern Africa the regional weekly newspaper published by the Nation Media Group seeks to strengthen its coverage of business politics, development, culture, and the arts in Tanzania by recruiting talented and self-motivated journals to fill the available position in its Dar Es salaam Bureau and the Arusha and Dodoma stations
1. STAFF WRITER 1 POST
2. CORRESPONDENT (DAR ES SALAAM & ARUSHA)
JOB PURPOSE
The holder of these position will report to the Bureau chief Tanzania. The job entails writing and producing multimedia content for publications in the East Africa and its digital platform
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– undertakes research to produce authoritative investigative report
– generate ideas for special reporter and liaises with the newspaper network of journalists to produce joint reports
– liaise with photographer and the photo editor for photograph to accompany the articles
– cover news events as assigned
– respond promptly to news break
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
– ACADEMIC university degree in journalism / mass communications
– PROFESSIONAL Diploma in journalism
– experience 5 years
OTHER ATTRIBUTES
– must be a Tanzanian
– Excellent contact especially in the business sector
– Strong investigate skills
– Understanding of business economic and financial concept
– Ability to write analytical stories
– Understanding of the region’s economic and political landscape
– University degree and training in journalism
– Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a reporter/writer
– Ability to work under minimum supervision and cope with pressure and deadliness
