SCHOLARSHIP FUND

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Background
In commemoration of the great achievements of the Late Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, a teacher, leader and great statesman, on 12th October 2009, the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) decided to establish an endowment Fund known as ‘Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund’.

The Fund was formally launched in Arusha on 27th November 2012 by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.

Fund’s Objective
The primary objective of the Fund is to promote interest and excellence in Mathematics and Science studies among female students in the United Republic of Tanzania. The Fund is dedicated to sponsor undergraduate female students to pursue studies in Mathematics and Science in Tanzanian universities.

It is also used to partly sponsor both male and female Tanzanians to pursue undergraduate studies in Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance as well as students intending to pursue Master’s programmes in those fields.

The Scholarship is granted on academic merit and based on rigorous selection process. Successful applicants are granted full scholarship. The Scholarship covers all direct university costs: tuition, registration fees and all direct student costs: meals, accommodation, books and stationery allowances, field practical training/research, special faculty requirements and other related costs as specified in the respective Institutions’ cost structure including a Laptop computer.
