Role overview
Developing the soft skills in design and marketable presentation of Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) graduates in the job markets with special focus on gas relating industries and companies within Mtwara and Lindi. Specifically, will be working to ensure there is close relation between VETA and industries, advise the steering committee members/partners on the best ways to improve the training as feedback from industries, design creative ways on vocational training can run as per relevance to the requirements of industries, advise VETA on the best ways to manage internships for graduates, how to organize career events, develop alumni and how VETA graduates can fit in the demands of companies and industries.
Day to day coordination of industry links: identify new industries/companies to be part of advisory committee, coordinates day-to-day operations of industry links with companies as well as VETA, facilitates communications between industries and the project and strengthens and maintains existing links with companies.
Ensures continuity and manages activities as part of the Industry Links strategy;
Ensures continuity of implementation of activities under the EEVT Industry Links strategy. Works in close collaboration with International VSO IL advisors and other VSO/VETA Kazi Connect team members. Ensures a positive and functional working relationship between VSO IL/Kazi Connect advisors and VETA staff/management.
Management of meetings; in collaboration with the Head of Project, International VSO IL advisors and VETA IL coordinators organizes advisory committee meetings, provides updates to the advisory committee members and joint partners.
Building relationships; will sustainably facilitate the relationship between VETA, EEVT project and employers/industries.
Coordination of internships: in close collaboration with the VSO International IL advisors and VETA IL coordinators, manages the process of internships. This goes for communication with companies as well as ensuring VETA internal procedures are followed.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
Bachelor's degree in Human resources, Business Administration, Marketing,mass communications or social science is required.
Ability to work collaboratively with the entire team of the EEVT project to deliver the desired outcomes. She/he will ensure industries are willing to dedicate/commit their human resource to support the internship and apprenticeship of students.
This is a one year and a half role that will require an ideal person to have close experience with industry relations and good communication skills.

Role overview
The ideal candidate for this post has a passion for education, activating teaching skills and is an expert in vocational training. The main responsibility is to train, support and guide 30+ teachers in reaching IVQ 3 level for 550 students. The focus will be on six main long courses i.e. Electrical Maintenance, Plumbing, Carpentry & Joinery, Auto-Mechanic, Welding & Fabrication and Food Production. In-depth knowledge of these trades is not necessary, because this will be provided by local teachers and technical advisers with extensive experience.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
• Preference is given to those with more than 10 years background on Technical vocational education/training institutions. Experience in working with Vocational Education Training in developed and developing countries.
• Added advantage will be experience in curriculum development and increasing standards/accreditation.
• Potential candidate will be experience in advising Vocational Training in developed world.
• Experienced in use of computer and software systems to analyse information/findings, and analyse Technical reports.
• Business negotiation skills.
• Excellent presentation skills.
Communication – ability to work and communicate with various partners of different ventures related to gas industries, vocational education and local population.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to vary communication content and style to suit audiences to inform, motivate and inspire
Analysis and creative problem-solving – proactive to deliver solutions to challenges emerged from data collection process, creative to find alternative solutions to challenges related to realization of the project impact.
Flexibility – ability to be proactive in changing environment of working, works under minimum supervision and keeps the targets on track under challenging environments.
Desirable:
Highly experienced in private sector operations preferably in gas/ mining or construction related industries. Experienced in data collection and analysis to reflect the objectives of the projects and tracks the demands of the industries to inform VETA education
